The Facel 2 was the successor to the HK 500, produced from 1962 to 1965. The founder of Facel is quoted with saying "The HK 500 was the most interesting car we ever made but the Facel II was by far the best. It was totally 'elegant'"". The earlier 4-speed all-synchromesh manual models and 3-speed automatic models of the Facel 2 came equipped with 6.3-liter Chrysler Typhoon

but the issue was addressed with the addition of the limited slip differential. The Facel 2 combined the elegance of French design with the power of an American engine

with a top speed of over 150 mph. The 0-60 time beat out all of it 2-seat contemporaries and fell short only to the 250 Ferrari GT on 0-100.\”
