1956 Facel Vega Excellence

Facel S.A began as French steel furniture and component manufacturer in 1939, originally founded to supply steel aircraft components for military mad by Bronzavia Industry. Following the end of World War II Facel looked to expand its business as the need for military aircrafts became less prominent. In 1948 a luxury car division was established at Facel, initially building bodies for Panhard, Delahaye, and Simca. Establishing their own brand of car, the Facel Vega in 1954. Known for their expensive price tag and exclusiveness, right after their release in 1954 they were instantly a hit amongst the rich and famous.

Although the glory did not last long after in 1960 an attempt to design
a mass-produced all-French sports car to compete with Alfa Romeo. But
after an extremely flawed engine attempt that could not be recovered,
even by third party help the engine was scrapped. Jean Daninos the then
president resigned in 1961, after the company began facing extreme
financial problems. Even after attempts to fix their engine problems and
restore costumer confidence the effort was far too short. Production of
cars stopped in 1963, and the business lost its financial support and
went under in 1964
