Your Privacy - Important Reading
J.J. Best & Co., (referred to later as “Best”), values the information you give us in the process of applying for a vehicle loan. We and the companies that we do business with, regard your information as sensitive, and have taken precautions to keep that information secure and confidential. Best will not share your information with any other company for the purpose of marketing non-financial services. Best does, however, disclose information in order to service a customer’s account and to offer other financial products. Please read carefully the following Privacy Statement so that you may fully understand your privacy as a customer of Best, and the commitment we have made to honor your privacy.
Data Collection and Security
Collecting and keeping customer information makes it possible for us to service your account(s) and offer products or services that may interest you. The information takes various forms and is collected from various sources. These sources include, but are not limited to: (i) loan applications or forms that you fill out, (ii) information we obtain from a consumer reporting agency (your credit history), (iii) your account experience with us and others (such as loan balances and payment records), and (iv) information you entered on our website. The more sources we use to gather and verify information, the more accurate the information, and the better the service. We will always respond to your request to correct any inaccurate information we may have on you. We cannot correct information obtained from outside our company.
We only share your information with (i) Best’s affiliates, (ii) with other companies in order to service your account(s) and (iii) with potential assignees in order to determine whether to grant credit (In your loan application and by signing below you consent to Best sharing your information with potential assignees.). Otherwise, we do not share your information with other companies.
Keeping you informed about new products, promotions or services offered by Best, we might contact you through direct mail, telemarketing, or email. If you prefer not to be contacted by one or all of aforementioned methods, please notify us in writing that: (i) you do not wish to be solicited by direct mail, (ii) you do not wish to be solicited by telemarketing, and/or (iii) you do not wish to be solicited by email. To ensure that we respond to your request accurately, you must provide us with your name, address, social security number, and applicable account number(s). You must, also, identify which of you is making the request in the case of a jointly held account(s). Your request will take effect within a reasonable period of time after receiving notice and will remain in effect after your account is closed and for such time as your information remains on our computer systems. Your preference will remain in force until you notify us in writing of any changes. Your email preference will apply only to the email address stated in your preference request. Please be advised that by saying “No” to our contacting you means that you will not be notified of products and services that may be of benefit to you, such as lower interest rates on loans. By saying “No” in your preferences does not mean that we cannot contact you in the normal course of doing business, such as writing to let you know that you are delinquent in providing us with the title to the vehicle we are financing for you.
Best may share certain customer information with government agencies, consumer reporting agencies, and the like when required by such laws as the Federal Right to Financial Privacy Act or compelled by court order. These disclosures are usually made for specific circumstances. Circumstances such as: (i) verifying identities to reduce fraud and identity theft, (ii) verifying information for prompt credit decisions, (iii) in response to a subpoena or court order, and (iv) in response to an inquiry for a consumer dispute.
Best has extended its Privacy Act to include its online banking website(s). If you use our website(s), information given may be used to: (i) process an online loan application and correspond with you, (ii) verify your identity, (iii) correspond by using your email address and any information contained in your email format which you may not be aware of, and (iv) send cookies, which are pieces of data that help web sites recognize return visitors. If you are uncomfortable with the use of cookie technology, you can set your browser to refuse cookies, but in doing so may preclude you from accessing our other web services. Best may use “tracer” technology, which allows us to determine what has been opened or viewed in our web site, or you have received that email.
Our websites may contain links to other websites that are not owned or controlled by us. These third-party websites may have their own privacy policies. Once you leave our website, our privacy policy is no longer in effect. It is recommended that you review the privacy policy of each website before you release any personal or confidential information.
The information given by you to Best is stored on an electronic database and in paper files. We use security measures to protect access to, misuse of, and tampering of your records. From time to time, we destroy records as their use is no longer needed or required by state or federal regulations.
This Privacy Statement is dated October 1, 2021 and supersedes any previously issued privacy statement by J.J. Best & Company and its affiliates. This statement may be revised from time to time as changes in the law warrant or as deemed necessary by us. As changes are made, you will be notified at the address we have on record. It is your responsibility to keep us informed of any changes in your mailing address if you want to be notified of changes. This Privacy Statement is not a contract between you and Best, and applies only to customers who have applied for a loan from us.
